Castaic sits on the very North Western part of the Santa Clarita Valley where the 5 and the 126 freeways intersect. Sometimes people will say to me, “I don’t want to go way up to Castaic.” Well, for commuters who live off Hillcrest Parkway in Castaic (right off the 5 freeway at Hasley Canyon), their commute would actually be shorter than if they were to live in Saugus or certain parts of Canyon Country. Castaic really offers a lot that people sometimes aren’t aware of because they think it’s a bit farther North than they want to go. The schools are highly rated and obviously the famous Castaic Lake offers a lot of recreation including boating and world class Bass fishing. As the path of progress continues for the Santa Clarita Valley, it’s going to be in the Castaic area going West. All of the future developments that will be built eventually by Newhall Land and Farm under Lennar will be along that 126 freeway going West to the Ventura County line. The large future development, known as “Newhall Ranch,” is going to put a big spotlight on Castaic and people are going to realize how nice it is. Also, a large group of people work in the Industrial Center north of the 126 freeway and bordering Castaic. Lastly, there is a section of Castaic known as Hasley Canyon which is kind of the “Sand Canyon” of the West side of town - meaning equestrian property and large beautiful custom homes on large lots. Often times you are dealing with well and septic, but many homes do have city water in Hasley Canyon too. It’s amazingly beautiful and just minutes from the 5 freeway. You’d never know you are that close. People who are looking for property, privacy, and views (many in the music & film industries) will look at Hasley Canyon right along with Sand Canyon because it offers them the privacy that they are looking for at a relatively affordable price.
