Canyon Country pretty much represents the entire Eastern section of the Santa Clarita Valley. I like to describe our valley as a big piece of pie with the 5 freeway being the West side and the 14 freeway being the East side. Canyon Country runs along the 14 freeway and is actually one of the largest sub-cities within Santa Clarita.

It has a wide variety of homes going back to the very early 1960’s off of Whites Canyon, growing from there both North along the 14 freeway and finally, in the early 2000’s, South across the 14 freeway when Pardee built the master planned Fair Oaks Ranch.

Fair Oaks Ranch was built between 2004-2015 and is its own master planned community within Canyon Country.  Just below it, is the “under construction” Vista Canyon project which should have move-ins by the end of 2017 and is being heralded as a truly “Green” community.  All water used in the development will be recycled with onsite equipment so that the project meets strict CA standards for New Construction.  Vista Canyon will be, along with Fair Oaks Ranch, the only 2 major developments in Canyon Country south of the 14 freeway.  The rest of Canyon Country is all to the North. Sometimes people will suggest that there is more to do on the other side of town, meaning the West side of town, where Valencia Town Center is located. However, Canyon Country really has a lot to offer for people who take some time to look – everything from the only Costco in town, an Edwards movie theater, a wide variety of non-chain restaurants, and with Vista Canyon even more unique offerings.  Finally, Vista Canyon will house the main Metro Station and the Metro Link is used by Santa Clarita residents Valley-wide.

To sum it up then, Canyon Country is a large area that offers some of the most affordable single family homes in our Valley and also popular schools. In fact, Canyon High School is renowned for its athletic program, including State Football Championships. The Canyon High Cowboys are very proud, and they should be – it’s an outstanding High School. Canyon Country offers a wide variety of housing built from the early 1960’s to present day, lots of condos, lots of small single family homes and lots of larger homes going all the way up to 3,500 square foot tract homes. Prices start around $200,000 for condos and get into the upper $800,000s for larger tract homes.

Fair Oaks Ranch continues to be built today and is now almost 10 years old. This is the only development other than Sand Canyon that is South of the 14 freeway, the rest of Canyon Country is all to the North.
