DISCOVER SAUGUS REAL ESTATE

I have a real fondness for Saugus because the first single family home I bought was in Saugus in a neighborhood called Mountain View. Mountain View is at the top of Seco Canyon, and at the time that was the very end of Saugus.

If you look at Saugus on a map with the 5 freeway being on the West side and the 14 being on the East side, Saugus is right in the middle. It goes way up Bouquet Canyon into some horse ranches, some really nice areas where movies have been filmed. But primarily, Saugus is known for having some of the best schools in the State and certainly the best value for money in Real Estate.

It’s been that way since the early 1980’s and it continues to be that way today. In a way, it offers schools that are as desirable as Valencia’s, typically for about 15-20% less money. The trade off is a longer commute. People started to move to Saugus in the 1950’s when the first tract of homes was built. The Bonelli tract, named after the Bonelli family that developed it, and the Emblem tract, whose homes were built in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s on lots as big as a half acre are now right in the middle of Saugus surrounded by tract homes on much smaller lots. Saugus is an interesting part of our valley with a lot of diversity to offer from a housing point of view.

Some of the highest rated schools in our Valley are located in the Saugus School District which has elementary schools in Valencia as well as Saugus. The Saugus School District is one of the highest awarded and recognized school districts in the United States for its size. To sum it up, Saugus is right in the middle of our valley, close to everything and has pretty much everything that people want to find here in Santa Clarita without being as expensive as Valencia.
